Paul Kiely has joined Jardine Lloyd Thompson Private Clients, a division of JLT Benefit Solutions, as a senior consultant in its London office. Paul previously worked at Kleinwort Benson as a private banker and has a decade of financial advice experience.

P-Solve Asset Solutions, the specialist investment consultancy and asset management business within the Punter Southall Group, has appointed Callum Webb, Geoffroy Sauvé and Mikhail Tikilyaynen. Callum joins as a business lawyer from Shearman & Sterling, Geoffroy joins as investment director from Dresdner Kleinwort and Mikhail joins from Lehman Brothers’ Fixed Income Analytics team.

Spence & Partners has hired Ian Campbell who has decades of experience from Mercer where he was a consulting actuary.

Paul Wright, Towry Law’s interim finance director since January 2009, has been made permanent.

 

Independent trustee

Independent Trustee Service has appointed Martin Miles to its board. Martin has spent over 30 years in pensions, including periods at Hewitt and the PwC Partnership.

 

Law firms

Jay Doraisamy joins Eversheds from Hammonds where she headed the London pensions practice.

Pitmans has promoted Parminder Latimer and Symon Rowley to directors within the pensions team.

Sacker & Partners has appointed two assistant solicitors, Chirag Ghelani and Ferdinand Lovett.

 

Insurance

AXA Distribution Services has appointed Mark Wilkinson to the senior leadership team in the newly created role of head of financial planning.

Bridge Pointe, headquartered in Bermuda, an insurance company focused on the UK and European pension buyin and buyout market, has appointed Lee Launer, former CIO of MetLife, to the position of chief investment officer.

The appointment of Lee follows the recent appointment of Francis Fernandes in the UK as managing director, head of European pensions solutions.

 

Communications

Wordshop has appointed Anneli Jump to its board of directors. Anneli, a former journalist, joined as a senior copywriter 18 months ago.

 

Investment

AXA Investment Managers confirmed the appointment of Rob Bailey as head of sales, UK. Having previously held the role of head of UK retail sales, Rob will now take on a broader role, incorporating both retail and institutional business
development.

Hermes Fund Managers has appointed Saker Nusseibeh in a new role as head of investments. Saker joins from Fortis Investments where he was global head of equities and CIO, global equities.

Newton Investment Management, part of BNY Mellon Asset Management, has appointed Susan Gostick as head of its institutional account management team.  She joins from Lazard Asset Mananagement.

Two top appointments announced for new Mercer risk group

Mercer’s Dynamic Derisking Solution business, a new enterprise enabling companies and trustees and companies to manage their pension risks more effectively, has appointed Alan Baker as chief operating officer and Rupert Brindley as chief architect.

Alan joins from Oliver Wyman where he was responsible for the delivery of projects for operational change and process efficiency improvements within the pensions and insurance industry. He has also worked in senior business development, operational leadership and consulting roles at IBM Business Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Lloyds TSB.

Rupert joins after 14 years with UBS Investment Bank, where he was a managing director focusing on risk management and liability driven investment strategies. Prior to UBS, he worked at Baring Asset Management and Invesco in a variety of quantitative portfolio management roles.

 

FSCS appoints non-execs

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has appointed Ivan Rogers and Phillip Wallace to the board of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) as non-executive directors.
Ivan started his career as a civil servant and posts held include principal private secretary to former Prime Minister Tony Blair and private secretary to former Chancellor of the Exchequer Kenneth Clarke.

Phillip Wallace was a chartered accountant at KPMG from 1971 to 2005, finishing as a vice chairman and chairman of the audit committee. His main specialism was corporate recovery where he was the senior partner responsible for complex restructurings and insolvency.

The FSA has also confirmed the reappointment of David Hall as chairman of FSCS until 31 March.
