Communications

A respected pensions industry figure has joined AHC as a senior adviser for Pensionweb, one of its three online communities for pensions professionals.

Ralph Turner brings more than 35 years’ experience in pensions to the AHC team. He was a key contributor to the Turner Commission Employer Taskforce between 2002 and 2006 and has previously worked as pensions and benefits director at Mars Group.

Defined contribution

Prudential has appointed David Caw to head its private sector corporate pensions client management team. He moves from Standard Life.

David Snowdon has joined BlackRock’s UK DC business from Barclays. He will focus on business development.

Investment

RPMI has continued to grow its investment arm, Railpen, by appointing a new investment manager to the team. Craig Heron has over 15 years’ investment experience and was most recently employed as a director of Multi-manager with Henderson Global Investors.

Law firms

Wragge & Co has strengthened its pensions team with the appointment of pensions litigation director, Ian Gordon, from Reynolds Porter Chamberlain.

The Edinburgh office of Brodies has hired two senior lawyers – Juliet Bayne (partner) and Nigel Watson (director).

Fiduciary management

Mn Services is continuing its expansion in the UK with the recent appointments of Jeff Neate, Marcelo Dellavedova and Chun-Kong Lui to the UK team.

Consultants

JLT Investment Consulting has appointed Peter Martin as head of manager research who joins after a long career at Aon Hewitt. The veteran Alex Weiland joins the same company as head of development.

Mike Curtis has joined Aon Hewitt’s reward and engagement team as a senior consultant from QCG, the HR consultancy, where he was compensation and benefits practice leader. The firm has also recruited René van Leggelo, who previously spent four years with Axa as head of international group pensions, to its global benefits team.

Bluefin Corporate Consulting has added Tracey Shephard, who joins from Mercer, to its international benefits team and Heather Meighan to its Scottish team.

Insurance

Steve Haynes is promoted to chief risk officer of LV= from finance director for the life business. The company has also appointed Steve Lewis as head of distribution for its retirement solutions business. He previously worked at Aegon and Prudential.

Star movers

Collins chairs Practitioner Panel

Russell Collins has been appointed chairman of the Financial Services Practitioner Panel, having served on the Panel for over five years. Russell is a partner at Deloitte and headed Deloitte’s financial serivces team from 2002 to 2011. He succeeds Iain Cornish who has stepped down from the chairmanship as he prepares to leave Yorkshire Building Society.

Hector Sants, FSA chief executive, said: “I am pleased that Russell has agreed to chair the Practitioner Panel. His background in professional services working with firms from all sectors of the industry is helpful during this time of change in the regulation of financial services, both in the UK and globally.”

Two new top actuarial posts at Bluefin

Bluefin has appointed Jim Boyle to the newly created role of chief actuary and Julie Stothard as head of actuarial practice.

Both Jim and Julie have been recruited internally: Jim has been with the firm for ten years while Julie joined Bluefin in 2010, having previously worked at Towers Watson.

Discussing their new positions, Jim and Julie said: “We are delighted to be taking on these roles. Bluefin is a fast moving and ambitious company and we’re looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
