Tim Gardener joins AXA IM

AXA Investment Managers has appointed Tim Gardener as global head of consultant relations.

Tim, a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, joins from Mercer where he spent the past 33 years, most recently as global chief investment officer.

Jon Bailie, AXA IM’s global head of distribution, commented: “Tim has a highly regarded and recognised profile in the institutional investment sphere and we are delighted to have him on board.”


Esther White to chair TACT pensions group

HR Trustees director, Esther White, has been appointed to chair The Association of Corporate Trustees (TACT) Pensions Committee, taking over from Graham Withers who held the position for three years.

All leading corporate trustees of occupational pension schemes are represented on the committee. They are trustees of some £100bn of pension schemes with 1.25m members in benefit and represent approximately 10% of the occupational sector.

Consultants

Buck Consultants, a Xerox Company, has appointed Louise Brett, senior communications consultant, to lead its communications practice in the UK. Louise joins Buck from Willis Group Holdings.

Nick Mann joins Goddard Perry Consulting as a senior adviser.

Quantum Advisory has recruited Trevor Newman as a senior consultant.

Mercer has recruited Sathish Ramdayal from P-Solve Asset Solutions to head a new Edinburgh based financial strategy group.
It will provide specialist advice to companies in Scotland and Northern Ireland on how to manage the financial risks in their occupational pension schemes.

Richard Doig joins the firm’s outsourcing business as a senior consultant from Heath Lambert Consulting.


Pension schemes

The Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London (SAUL) has appointed Kevin Wade FIA to help manage and develop its investment strategy. Kevin joins from Aon Consulting.


Independent trustees

HR Trustees has expanded its business with the appointment of Giles Payne as director who joins from Legal & General Investment Management.


Regulation

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has appointed Nigel Peaple as head of corporate and international affairs. Nigel and his team are responsible for TPR’s media, external stakeholder and EU relations. He comes to TPR from the National Association of Pension Funds where he was director of policy and a founding director of the Pension Quality Mark.


Lawyers

Sacker & Partners has made several promotions including Emily Forrest, who joined the firm in 2002, and Zoë Lynch, who joined the firm in 1998, to partner.

Arshad Khan, a member of Sackers’ dispute resolution unit, moves up to associate director and three solicitors become associates: Georgina Beechinor, David James and Georgina Jones.


Investment

The World Gold Council has appointed David Badham as head of investment marketing for Europe. David will be based in its London office and joins the organisation from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
